"Next Tuesday is old-timers night here at the ball park. Free admission to anyone who was actually alive the last time the Indians won a pennant."

"Wish we had him two years ago."

"We did."

"Juuust a bit outside. He tried the corner and missed."

"Ball four... Ball eight..."

The best part of Major League is without a doubt the performance of Bob Uecker as Harry Doyle, the discouraged and cynical play-by-play announcer of the Cleveland Indians, who unilaterally cancels post-game shows after shutouts and tries in vain to catch the cheers of the sparse home crowd on his broadcast microphone.

There are so many great elements in this film, it just makes the quotes that much better. One of the best is the handful of faithful fans doing the wave in the far distant left field bleachers who argue over the fact home runs fly "too high."

There's no shortage of "rag-tag sports team wins the championship" movies, but Major League still manages to make its story entertaining. The combination of the completely disaffected manager, the personalities of the players and the great performance of Bob Uecker combines to make Major League one of the best sports comedies, and one of the most quotable movies of all time.
