Ten of the Best Cartoons of All Time Number Six Show Biz Bugs

By Lincoln Armstrong

"Show Biz Bugs" may have been the very first time an un-entertained audience was represented by the sound of crickets. This cartoon probably has the greatest unbroken series of absolutely classic dialogue exchanges and sight gags in all of Looney Tunes and possibly all of comedy. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and especially Yosemite Sam had made their livings off of most of these jokes for years both before and after this animated short was released in 1957. The xylophone gag alone probably appeared in at least five other Bugs Bunny cartoons.

This cartoon also continued the legendary rivalry between Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, which led to the very entertaining Rabbit Fire, famous for the well-known "Duck Season! Wabbit Season! Duck Season! Wabbit Season!" exchange.

"Show Biz Bugs" also holds the dubious distinction of being one of the most heavily edited Looney Tunes of all time because of Daffy's ultimate attempt to upstage Bugs.
