How does Starbucks Buy Its Coffee?

Coffee of the Day

A "Coffee" drink, as served at Starbucks, sometimes referred to as a "drip" or a "brew," is one of three major categories of drinks made available, the others being espresso and blended drinks. The coffee menu, unlike the espresso bar or the blended drink menu, changes daily, depending on the types or flavors of coffee available.

Coffee can be ordered by sizes, from tall to venti, or can be ordered iced. Iced coffee is made double-strength to compensate for the water in the ice. Included in the coffee category are the various kinds of tea available, including both hot and cold varieties. Iced tea can be ordered with sweetener and lemonade, while hot tea is normally ordered by the bag.

There is one particularly popular specialty drink known as a "Misto" in Starbucks parlance, but as "Cafe au Lait" (Coffee with milk) more generally, which consists of half coffee and half steamed milk.

Of course, Starbucks brand coffee beans and custom ground coffee can also be purchased at most stores.
