The Motorola Razr V3 is a GSM mobile phone which has quad band capability. This means this handset is a multi-band handset as opposed to a multi-mode handset. The Motorola Razr can connect to wireless voice networks on the 850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz or 1900 MHz frequencies and should select the best available frequency depending on what kind of service is available.

For data transfer, the Motorola Razr V3 supports the GSM-compatible GPRS or General Packet Radio Service protocol and also includes a full-duplex speakerphone, which provides maximum flexibility with voice traffic and incoming voice calls even if there are simultaneous data transfers required.

The Motorola Razr V3 has dual color displays, and supports a wide range of e-mail protocols including POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP, along with EMS 5.0 picture messaging. It also supports SMS, SMS chat and two way text messaging plus Wireless Village Instant Messaging.
